have you ever noticed how people love to one-up each other on bruises? next time you get a bruise, show someone and start to tell them the story. betcha you get interrupted: "so yeah, my arm is turning gr--"/"you should've seen this one time when i was walking and i tripped on a snail and my knee turned the size of a cantalope and it turned purple and yellow and blue and grey and even some orange. man, that was something. i wish had taken pictures of that one. but, um, yeah, what were you saying?"

anyways, i crashed my mountain bike last tuesday. and yes, i did vote beforehand. man, that was something.

ultimately, i suppose this is really of no significance. if we're not in a race for first, we're in a race for last. this all, of course, applies to whoever is the most tired, has had the least amount of sex in the past year, has to work the most, has gone the longest without having sex, has the coldest apartment, makes the least amount of money but can still afford to drink endlessly, etc.

i continue to fight with myself over the use of this thing. what's there to decide? i don't even know.

i'm working at the bike shop full time.

I guess I often don't realize how much I miss hanging out with certain people until I start seeing them again. Theatre has a way of doing that to me. Or maybe I just have a way of doing that to me.

Not without great resistance, Kristin managed to drag me back into an old world that has drastically changed, and I am most grateful for it. I can't even begin to explain why we stopped hanging out, but we did. Somehow, though, things always seem to work out.

Work is getting better slowly. They finally have hired someone else to help alleviate some of the stress and workload. Everyone is just happier.

I have three sessions left for my Foundation Design class. I have found that I work much better on intuition and the abstract level. The second things become calculated and measured, I am bored and frustrated in my boredom. For as much as I think things through, my instincts take me in the right direction. I think I should take that as a hint.

This past year was shitty, but I learned a lot. A lot. Everything I went through has taught me so much, and while I probably should have done some things differently, I can't say I would go back and redo anything. Reflection has been good for me, and reconnections certainly haven't hurt.

June's been good to me so far.

1. What is your favorite thing about Pittsburgh? Least favorite?

Pittsburgh is my home: always has been, always will be. I think that pretty much covers it.
To be more specific though, I love the layout of the city. Sure, it's a bit of a convoluted, but I love how it all doesn't run together. Rivers and hills and bridges, oh my! My least favorite thing is definitely the lack of biker-friendliness. We're getting there, though.

2. Hey, I just gave you $100,000. Aside from making me your new best friend, what are you gonna do?

$100,000, huh? I think I would probably travel around the world with my bicycle. You're welcome to join.

3. Tell me a sweet story about a scar you have? Or a broken bone?

I've never broken any bones. Well, there was this one time when I probably broke my finger playing tetherball, but I never got it checked out. Now my finger is crooked. I have many scars, though. My favorite is probably the scar I have above my right eye. When I was approximately two, I decided to walk in around in my father's dress shoes. They were brown. I was wearing pink overalls and a white turtleneck. I was frolicking about in my parents' room when I tripped over the shoes and hit my head off of the bed frame. Woooo!

The things people remember are always funny.

4. If you could do anything you wanted to after college, what would you do?

I would move to Philadelphia to be close to my brother. I would be sacrificing a lot of other things I want to do, though. So, I guess I don't really know.

5. What is your favorite vacation you've been on?

When I was younger, my family and I would go to Bennington, Vermont every summer, I think up through the summer after 8th grade. Our friends own a bookstore there. I always looked forward to those trips because my parents would let my brother and I pick out whatever books we wanted. Plus, every morning, my dad, my brother, and I would drive to the Green Mountains and go mountain biking on the old logging trails. I fell in love with biking on those mornings.

I am currently stealing wireless from Gene's Place.

Apparently bars have wireless for those who want to finish homework while getting wasted? Nah, probably for the money machines or something.

Even better: I'm using my laptop. Which has a broken screen. Thus: my laptop is connected to an external monitor. The external monitor for the desktop that is supposed to work. Only now, the internet won't connect.

I hate computers.

Does anyone have an extra router that I could borrow to see if it is indeed my router that has lost it?

I am currently sitting at home home.

I am leaving for Philadelphia tomorrow morning at 8:00 am.

My brother is getting married Saturday evening.

I have one more week of Organic Chemistry left i.e. two more tests.

I have not ridden my bicycle in a week and a half due to a factory error in assembling the cassette.

I miss something, but I don't know what. Maybe my life.

I like working at the shop.

I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Sweet.

I watch movies instead of studying.

If I don't get a 'C' or better in OChem2, I cannot take Biochem AKA HELL PART 3 next semester. Thus, I will seriously reconsider my biology major (again).

The show is over. It's about time. It would have been a complete disaster had it not been for one person. You know who you are, and thank you.

It was much better received than I had ever anticipated, and I am grateful that I got the opportunity to show people I am capable of acting. That's not to say it wasn't the most frustrating experience of my life. But, what's done is done, and I can only look back and be proud that I made it through my first show at Pitt. Hopefully, I will have other opportunities, but who knows.

In other news, my dating situation briefly changed. And by briefly, I really do mean briefly. It, however, is now back to normal. I have determined that much of my problem comes down to my chronic I-feel-like-an-asshole-even-if-I'm-not-acting-like-one syndrome. I don't want to hurt people, and to not do so, I don't get involved. Well, I kinda did, and now I'm not, and now I feel like a bit of an asshole. Gah.

Truthfully, I'm terrified of losing people as friends.

But that is such a lame excuse, and I know it is. My excuses are always lame, but they are excuses nonetheless, and they certainly always keep from doing what I really want to do. I always know what my problems are, but I never change them. Right now, I want to say, "Oh well," but that's a cop-out, too.

Anyways, here's to nice days and allergies and bike rides and beer and comfortable shoes and clean laundry and sun and good music and friends.

Some days, I feel like I am diminished to how well my legs can push the pedals.

Evan, a member of the Pitt Cycling team, attempted to ride his bike (on a trainer) for 24 hours straight. He made it to 21 before his knee got so bad that he had to stop. He is basically amazing.

I rode from 10 pm to 2 am and then again from 1 pm to 5 pm. The least we could do was finish it out for him. I was completely exhausted after a mere 8 hours with a break. I have no idea how he managed to stay on for that long. And I bet he tries it again next year.

In other news, this past weekend was fun, yet really disappointing all at the same time. If you ask me why, I will probably deny I even said that last part.

Just keep pedaling, just keep pedaling...

It's quite amazing that I can stare at a calculus problem for 1.5 hours and still not get it.

Thank you, Math Department, for making my Sunday evening miserable.

I have a Calc test on Wednesday, and I have no idea what is going on. But yet, I agree to do things that will just bring more stress into my life.
